Incident Details
On July 25, 2023, the FREMANTLE HIGHWAY caught fire off the coast of the Dutch island of Ameland. The fire was eventually extinguished, but not before significant damage was caused to the vessel.
The FREMANTLE HIGHWAY is a Panamanian-flagged vehicle carrier. It is owned by the Grimaldi Group and managed by the French company CMA CGM. The vessel is 199 meters long and 32 meters wide, with a gross tonnage of 31,900.
Current Status
The FREMANTLE HIGHWAY was towed to Eemshaven, Netherlands, where it underwent repairs. The vessel has since been sold to a new owner and is expected to resume service in the near future.
