Flyers Ryan Johansen Lands On Unconditional Waivers

Ryan Johansen Placed on Unconditional Waivers by Flyers

Contract Termination Imminent

Undisclosed Injury Sidelines Forward

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that forward Ryan Johansen has been placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.

Johansen, 30, has not played for the Flyers this season due to a hip injury.

The Flyers acquired Johansen from the Nashville Predators in a trade in July 2023.

  • Johansen has 207 goals and 294 assists in 808 career NHL games.
  • He was a member of the Predators' Stanley Cup Final team in 2017.
  • Johansen represented the United States at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The Flyers are expected to buyout the remaining two years of Johansen's contract, which carries a cap hit of $8 million per season.

The move will free up cap space for the Flyers, who are currently in a rebuilding mode.
